Dillsboro's Land Use Plan
Dillsboro’s Land Use Plan – named “Destination Dillsboro: the 2042 Comprehensive Plan” – was developed by JMTE’s project team, which included Mosaic Civic Studio, over a yearlong process of stakeholder interviews, survey deployment, and analysis of existing conditions and future scenarios. With support from Mosaic, JMTE worked with the Town to develop recommendations for the Dillsboro’s future success. Focus areas included outdoor recreation and tourism, maintaining a small-town aesthetic, supporting the local craft community, improving housing variety of all types, and ensuring safe pedestrian infrastructure between downtown and all community parks. Destination Dillsboro is the Town’s very first comprehensive land use plan and JMTE is proud to have helped the community find strategies to “craft” its future.

The Town of Highlands is gathering information from the public as part of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Assessment and Transition Plan. This survey addresses accessibility of services and activities offered to the public. The purpose of this survey is to inform the development of the Town’s ADA Transition Plan by generating priorities for improving access to Town-owned infrastructure and services.

NCDOT Has Developed Early Flood-Warning System for Roads
This is great news, when the next hurricane strikes, the N.C. Department of Transportation will be armed with an advanced flood-warning system that relies on a network of 400 river and stream gauges.
